5 Tips for TichuPro Tournaments
How to prepare for the weekly TichuPro tournaments: consistency, choosing a partner, managing pressure and ranked practice.
1. Find a regular partner
In TichuPro tournaments, chemistry with your partner matters more than individual talent. Play ranked games with the same partner so you learn each other's styles and signals.
2. Play conservatively in the early hands
In a tournament, a failed Grand Tichu on the first hand can put you on the defensive for the whole series. Start with solid play and take risks only when the score demands it.
3. Read the score, not just the cards
The right strategy changes with the score. If you're ahead, play safe and protect the gap. If you're behind, aggressive Tichu calls are the only road to a fast comeback.
4. Drill your bombs
Bombs decide the critical hands. Learn to spot four-of-a-kinds and same-color straights in your hand quickly — at tournament level, every second of hesitation gives information to your opponents.
5. Manage the pressure
Tournaments are played within tight time limits. Stay calm after a bad hand — in Tichu the score turns around very quickly, and the team that keeps its cool is the one that lifts the title.
